Martin Gaynor

Martin Gaynor is the Lester A. Hamburg University Professor of Economics and Public Policy Emeritus at Carnegie Mellon University.

Professor Gaynor’s research focuses on competition and incentives in health care and on antitrust policy. He has won awards for his research from the American Economic Journal, the American Society of Health Economists, the National Institute for Health Care Management Foundation, the International Health Economics Association, and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. He served as Director of the Bureau of Economics at the U.S. Federal Trade Commission in the Obama Administration, and Special Advisor to the Assistant Attorney General of the Antitrust Division at the U.S. Department of Justice during the Biden Administration.
